Standard Bank U13 Week heads for Pretoria

5 December 2008

Pretoria takes centre stage as South Africa's young crop of cricketers gather for the Standard Bank Under-13 Cricket Week from 7 to 11 December.

This is the 41st anniversary of the Week and it further highlights Cricket South Africa's long- standing partnership with Standard Bank in nurturing the future Proteas. The tournament not only cultivates the country's young crop of cricketers, but also gives them the chance to showcase and strengthen their cricketing abilities at an early age.

"The Standard Bank Under-13 Cricket Week remains a priority for Standard Bank as it is one of the nurseries for growing, nurturing and guiding the Proteas of the future . By partnering CSA at this week, as well as the National Schools Programme, the National Cricket Academy and High Performance Cricket, we are able to assist in developing South Africa's cricket "pipeline" ," said Standard Bank's Director for Group Sponsorships, Clement Motale.

"Northerns Cricket Union is delighted to be hosting the U13 week in Pretoria. At this tender age it is vitally important that cricket is presented and played with integrity and honour that the game deserves and as hosts we will not disappoint the young lads," remarked Northerns CEO, Elise Lombard.
