Free Internet banking access for Standard Bank business customers

02 June 2003

Standard Bank is offering business customers with an SME AutoBank card free access to its Internet banking service.

This move was prompted by the growth in online usage in the small and medium enterprise sector. Standard Bank currently has about 74 000 SME customers using either Internet banking or Business Online. About one third of all SMEs who use online banking, use Standard Bank Internet banking.

Says Herman Singh, Director Direct channels: "Internet banking is ideal for business owners as it allows them do their banking transactions from the convenience of either their home or office. Standard Bank has seen the importance of this channel and would like to make it as accessible to its customer base as traditional banking."

Standard Bank's Internet Banking allows customers access to their latest account balances and to download provisional statements on all accounts linked to their SME AutoBank card. Once off or future-dated payments can be made and regular monthly payments can be set up a year in advance. All payments that are set up in advance can be cancelled or changed. Beneficiaries can be loaded without going into a branch. Customers can also arrange to have account balances and statements securely emailed to them for free.

Standard Bank business customers can register online here or telephone 0860 012 345.
